Official Call for 2013 Presenters
 
PROPOSALS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL December 30, 2013
 
Target Audience:
 Deaf Community and Interpreters
Deaf Individuals, Interpreters: Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced, Beginners-Intermediate, and Intermediate-Advanced
 
 
I.I.D.S. is soliciting presenters for the 2013 Conference. Two hundred participants are expected at this life-changing conference. Presentations are requested from everyone on topics relevant to deaf community as well as the interpreting profession and its progress. Some areas of interest are: Deaf Leadership, CDI, Video Interpreting, Interpreting in the Educational Arena, Mentoring, Cultural Awareness, Finances for Interpreters, Technology, Religious Interpreting, Linguistics of ASL, Christian Development and Evangelism.

Workshops should be designed for *2.5-hour or 5-hour sessions.
(*) Denote: Workshop may be repeated.


Application Process

5. Biographical sketch of presenter (150 words or less)
6. One paragraph summary of your proposal suitable for description in the program book
7. Black and White Photo of presenter
8. Proposal which should not exceed two pages in length
9. AV needs
10. Interpreter needs
11. Target audience (beginners, intermediate, advanced, beginners-intermediate, intermediate-advanced)
12. How do you anticipate conducting your presentation?
13. ASL____ Spoken English _____ Other___________
14. If given an option, are there particular days of the week that you would prefer to present?
       Thursday ___ Friday ____ Saturday ____
15. Room set up (Include diagram. Will provide based on feasibility.)

Incomplete applications WILL NOT be considered.
 
Workshop Tracks
• Track 1: Deaf Leadership (For Deaf/Fluent ASL Users)
• Track 2: Interpreters – Beginners/Novice
• Track 3: Interpreters – Intermediate
• Track 4: Interpreters – Advance
 
Instructional Level
Little/None - This level of instruction assumes that the participant knows little or no information within the presentation area covered. The focus of the activity/presentation is "general orientation and increased awareness."

Some - This level assumes the participant has a general familiarity with the literature and professional practice within the presentation area covered. The focus of the activity/presentation is "increased understanding and application" by the participant.

Extensive - This level assumes the participant has thorough familiarity with current literature and professional practice within the presentation area covered. The focus of the activity/presentation is "recent advances, future directions, and application of research.
 
Compensation
• Lodging for night prior to presentation and night of presentation
• Travel/Per Diem, up to $300
• $225 Honorarium per 5-hour workshop
• Registration Waived (Must complete a Complimentary Registration Form)
• Banquet Ticket
